Novels-films, The mediums of Entertainment which manipulates a person's mind and emotion, has been a very important choice as hobby for a very long time. In a busy and difficult life of a person, these are the mediums used as refreshment of mind. 

These mediums can be of fiction/fairy tale or based on true events. Some people like fictions, some people like true events, and some other likes both.  As far as a man's imagination can go, these mediums don't reach the limit.

Films

Films are a visual portrayal of a series of events compiled together to create a story for viewers. It is considered as the most difficult art among other arts. A film has a lot of elements, which makes it a wide choice around the whole world. From giving a real life experience to creating different views and understandings in a person's mind, film has been creating massive impact around the globe.

From theaters to house, from DVD's to Internet ; films have spread everywhere. Years ago, before internet came into mainstream, people watched every kind of movies. But these days people have become a little bit picky. People nowadays watch films by going through suggestions and reviews. Rating from different websites like IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, Personal Critic and Film Pundit Websites are also a consideration in watching a movie. From children to adults, visual act was always intriguing to everyone. 

Novels

Novels are a compilation of thoughts of an author in written. Novels have been a favorite choice for centuries. Authors have always been a creative-minded person. From writing a story to sharing a depiction of emotion, Authors have successfully grabbed the attention of readers through mind-boggling narrations.

From romance to action genre, from detective to historical genre, from horror to thriller genre ; Books never failed to give the readers a good time. Beautiful choice of speech, elegant vocabulary, mesmerizing dialogues and touch of delicacy in character build up ; Novels gave people knowledge.  

Films Vs Novels

Though both of these mediums are used for similar purpose, but there is a catch. There are a lot of people who loves movie but doesn’t like reading books. The same goes the other way. Some classical thoughts have shared that books are more interesting than a film. Why is that? There are books from which people made films.

The books don't have a specific limitation or word capacity. Books can take as much as it takes to introduce and build up a character. Books don't skip details or moments. Books can share a full-fledged story. On the other hand, Films have time limitation. To adjust the whole story in the fixed time limitation, directors and producers need to improvise a lot according to peoples taste. It is easier to write a novel if you have good sense of story, great choice of words/speech. On the other hand, making a film is hard, whether you are good at it or not. In this modern age, both mediums are available for everyone and easy to pursue. 

Which is better?

I don't have the right to speak on everyone's behalf, but in my opinion, reading books/novels are better than watching a movie. Why is that ?

Films are preset visual movement. That's why you just have to digest what's been feeding to you. Books/novels are narrative fictions in written which you have to create a picture or situation in your mind. You have to process the story using your brain and digest onto that. 

Where films are already visualized, you don't have to force your brains to work hard. In a sense, you can say, you are not doing any hard work to develop your brain. Reading a book increases your capability of brain. 

That's why I think books/novels are the best options. 

Do I have to avoid the other?

It doesn’t mean that if you read books, you have to avoid films. No. Films are less time-consuming. You can both rest and enjoy a film and save time. Nowadays, films have color. Which makes the experience rich and satisfying for your eyes. Films can be enjoyed with families and friends together, which creates great moments.

Conclusion

Whether you like Novels or films, In the end both mediums are evolving with time. And in the future, The quality of both mediums will grow even more to provide satisfaction to the hunger for entertainment.
