Are Men and Women Equal? 

This blog discusses about the equality of men and women in the society. Hence the topic is called 'Are Men and Women Equal'

God created human being with different attributes and structures. Among them, the two species are male and female. Both this species have different roles towards society and life.

The Design of Men and Women

Men and women are physically built different. Men are more of a strong, masculine specie while women are delicate, beautiful and emotional being. The common distinguishable point among these two is the sexual role. Male usually plays the role of providing and female plays the role of nurturing. And this has become a traditional belief that women should stay at home and keep nurturing their family while the men should go out and bring livelihood and provide for their family. 

The Era of Women

In today's world, the thoughts of people have evolved. Now women also work side by side with men. Women got much more independence than before. Women got rights to a lot of things. Almost every country of the world set men and women equal with the help of government. Women can cast votes, can put on whichever cloths they want, can cast decisions,  can apply for any job, can earn equal like men. 

The Birth of Opportunity

  

God may have provided resources to mankind but didn’t share them equally among everyone.  Today, there are rich people who are full of resources and there are poor people who doesn’t have any. And there is also middle class people who are not satisfied with what they have. So to earn resources, the poor and middle class have to work under rich people. This built the term opportunity. How? Every rich people can manage a limited amount of people to work under them. But there is a large ammount of human resource comparing to those jobs. So everyone can not earn resources. The lack of jobs brought competition among people. Specially in Asian Subcontinent. Till the last 2 centuries men led in doing jobs. A few ammount of women were involved with jobs as majority choose to stay as homemaker. As time passed, More women also got involved in doing jobs leaving the role of homemaker to earn for themselves. And this brought more competition among men. 

Roles of Male and Female 

In this era, a lot of married couple changes roles. For example : Women work in office while their husband play the role of homemaker. But this doesn’t comply over all man . Women can be homemaker and also can do office works. But men carries the traditional thoughts in their minds. They believe they are ment to work outside the house because of their strength, mental ability, working capability. They can't be a homemaker or else the society will make fun of their masculinity. Till this day, Men suffer a lot from this backlashes and taunts. 

Downfall

In a traditional sense, The standards of a man is set with status and the standards of a women is set with marriage and family. If a man cannot provide for his family or do jobs  he is considered as failure. Men are filled with pride and ego. Men cannot tolerate if anyone makes fun of their status. On the other hand, If women don't get married in an early age, she is considered as a burden. In the end, both men and women suffer in silence and start to feel like they don't belong here. They start giving up in everystep. It is not a matter of comparing but according to statistics, Twice amount of men commit suicide comparing to women. 

Equality Among Men and Women

Equality means to get equal rights and treating everyone equally. 

Nowadays, Modern women protest to get equal rights while men do not bother to be treated equally. Most of the countries gave equality among men and women. But in actions and decisions. No county puts same law for men and women who committed crime. No country in the world put same parameter for men and women to get a job. Women can steer away from a dangerous job and it is fine but men cannot do that. Women are most likely gets less accused for sexual harassment comparing to men. In a sense, equality doesn’t appear in some scenario. 

Using The Wrong Term

What women have been using for decades is the term "Equal Rights". But if equal rights were to cast as exact, women would have to face the same fate as men. So what women are using as term is actually wrong. The thing women are claiming is to get equal power but also being fair and respectful to their physical and mental ability comparing to men. This is actually called "Gender Equity", where men and women gets equal rights but both are treated according to their capabilities and compatibilities which might not be equal but fair for both sides. " Gender Equity " is the right term to use. 

Women and men both are equal and also not equal. Women and men are equal on the basis of getting rights but they are not equal on the basis of getting treatment. As long as there is existence of men, "Ladies First" will be the barrier between equality and equity. "The Gentlemen Approach " will also be a barrier among equality.
